Philip Lagat and Sarah Kiptoo take the win at the 2014 Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon

Philip Lagat, Kenya, won the 37th Marathon in 2:12:39. This time may not be the course record; it is still the best time in 14 years. It is the fastest time since since Pavel Kokin set the event record, 2:10:29, in 2000. Lagat has already run in Cleveland. He had won the 10K race in 2010.

Sarah Kiptoo, also from Kenya and defending champion manage to win the race in 2:34:57, one minute slower than last year’s performance.

Next year’s event is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, 2015 and registration are already open.
