The 2014 SEB Tallinn Marathon set a new record of participation for a sports events in the Baltics. There were 2,166 registered runners for the marathon and 2,999 for the half marathon. All distances combined, there were 20,314 participants coming from 42 different countries.
Marathon
The marathon was won by Ethiopian runner Tesfaye Dadi Beyene for the second year in a row. He crossed the finish line with a time of 2:17:29.
Beyene had almost a 4 minute lead over Estonian Ilja Nikolajev (2:21:34) who finished second. Nikolajev was the first Estonian runner thus gained the Estonian Marathon championship title. The third place went to Heinar Vaine (2:23:36).
The women’s title went to Evelin Talts from Estonia with a time of 2:56:26. She place 49th place overall. She also got the Estonian Marathon championship title. Anu Teppo finished second with a time of 2:58:58 and Kaisa Kukk third in 2:59:10.
