The city of Amsterdam hosted the 41st edition of its yearly marathon on Sunday;
The victory went to Daniel Wanjiru who crossed the finish line at 02:05:21, establishing a new record for the course. He was followed by Sammy Kitwara who finished with a time of 02:05:45. Finishing third was Marius Kimutai (02:05:47).
For the women, Meselech Melkamu claimed victory with a time of 02:23:21 , followed by Abebech Afework who finished with a time of 02:24:27. Eunice Chumba got the third place in 02:25:00.
