Jared Carson (1:08:23.40) held off more than 5,300 runners to win the 3M Half Marathon in Austin, Texas.
He finished fourth in 2013.
The USATF certified course worked its way south through the city, passing the University of Texas campus and ending near the state capital.
Adam Waldum secured second with a time of 1:09:28.69.
Last year’s runner-up Bryan Morton (1:11:09.38) came in almost two minutes slower than his 2014 time, for third.

For the women, it was Kristen Zaitz taking the top spot.
Her mark of 1:13:51:80 was good for tenth overall.
Runner-up Elizabeth Northern finished with a time of 1:16:14.24.
Megan Mueller came in third at 1:19:27.50.
