Eliaz Kemboi Chelimo bested more than 2,600 runners to win the 37th annual Vodafone Istanbul Marathon in Turkey.
His mark of 2:11:09 was just 35 seconds off the course record.
The seaside race starts by crossing the Bosphorus Bridge and ends in the Hippodrome, between the Blue Mosque and Egypt Obelisk.
Evans Kiplagat earned runner-up honors for the second time in three years with a time of 2:12:46.
Silah Kipkemboi Limo came in a closer third at 2:13:57.
For the women, it was Amane Gobena Gemeda (2:31:54) coming in comfortably ahead of the field to defend her title.
Gladys Jepkemoi Chemweno finished second with a time of 2:40:47.
Meryem Erdogan (2:46:37) rounded out the top three.
