World-class runner Jeffery Eggleston bested more than 12,000 competitors to win the seventh annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon in Illinois with a time of 1:05:05.
One of 30 events held by the Rock ‘n’ Roll series, including nine international stops, Eggleston also won the race which makes its way through the streets of downtown Chicago in 2013.
Zach Ripley came in second place at this year’s race with a time of 1:07:56.
Last year’s runner-up Kevin Havel (1:08:13) finished just ahead of Fernando Cabada (1:08:40) for third.
For the women it was Maegan Krifchin coming in more than two minutes ahead of the field with a time of 1:15:17.
Second-place finisher Yihunlish Bekele, the only other runner to finish under an hour and 20 minutes, posted a time of 1:17:32.
Chirine Njeim, rounded out the top three finishing third with a time of 1:21:16.
