For the second time in three years, Tarus Elly (2:25:19) bested more than 2,400 runners through the Highlands of Scotland to win the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon in Inverness.
Elly placed third in the race along Loch Ness and across the River Ness a year ago.
Last year’s winner Tomas Abyu (2:27:37) came in just seconds ahead of back-to-back runner-up Patryk Gierjatowicz (2:27:47) for second.
Gierjatowicz was the only other runner to finish under two and a half hours.
For the women, it was Megan Crawford (2:44:50) coming in comfortably ahead of Gatenesh Tamirat (2:57:43) and the rest of the field.
Similar to the men’s race, Crawford finished first for the second time in three years.
Shona McManus rounded out the top three with a time of 3:02:06.
