In his first ever marathon, Anthony Fagundes (2:38:24) bested more than 1,900 runners to win the 20th Surf City USA Marathon in Huntington Beach, California.
Naiki Kato (2:46:27) cut 16 seconds from his third-place finish a year ago to earn runner-up honors.
He took fifth in 2014 and sixth in 2012.
Jesse Prieto came in third with a time of 2:48:44.
For the women, it was Rachel Naranjo (2:57:08) notching the victory.
Maggie Walsh secured second with a time of 2:58:17.
She was only other female to finish under three hours.
Rebecca Cutler (3:11:51) rounded out the top three.

Nick Mosey (1:13:25) outpaced almost 12,000 runners to win the Surf City USA Half Marathon.
He finished fourth in 2013.
Zack Torres took second with a time of 1:14:28.
Corbyn Jahn (1:14:50) came in just ahead of C.J. Olson (1:15:02) for third.
Actor Matt Damon broke two hours.

For the women, it was Allison Gonzales (1:18:55) taking the top spot.
In second, was Ashley Teran (1:24:24) despite finishing almost two minutes slower than her seven-place finish a year ago.
Sarah Paz (1:26:05) managed to hold off Claudia Keep (1:26:08) for third.
