Eric Gillis (1:05:46) outran more than 2,000 runners to win the 27th First Half ½ Marathon in Vancouver, Canada. The British Columbia course looped competitors around the BC Place, then up the coast of the English Bay and around Stanley Park, before heading back to David Lam Park. Robin Watson earned runner-up honors with a time of 1:07:39. He won the event in 2013 and 2014. Kevin Coffey came in third in this year’s race with a time of 1:08:21.

For the women, it was Dayna Pidhoresky (1:15:11) cutting nearly a minute from her 2015 time to defend her title. In a tight race for second, Krista Duchene (1:16:20) finished just ahead of last year’s runner-up Erin Burrett (1:16:30).
