Sisay Lemma Kasaye (2:06:26) came in less than 10 seconds ahead of Lani Kiplagat Rutto (2:06:34) to win the BMW Frankfurt Marathon in Frankfurt, Germany. The event which started in 1981, saw nearly 11,100 runners complete to course which ends on the red carpet at the Festhalle. Alfers Lagat (2:06:48) finished just a few seconds later in third.

For the women, it was Gulume Tollesa Chala and Dinknesh Mekash Tefera tying for first, each with a time of 2:23:12. Koren Jelela Yal came in a close third at 2:23:52.
