Results: Lilesa takes top spot, Kiprop sets course record in Tokyo

Marathon results

In his first major race, Feyisa Lilesa (2:06:52) finished ahead of more than 36,000 runners to win the 10th annual Tokyo Marathon in Japan.
The tour of the city which ends near the Tokyo Bay, and represents the past, present and future, just so happens to be the largest marathon in Asia.
In a tight race for runner-up, Bernard Kipyego (2:07:33) beat Dickson Chumba (2:07:34) by a second.
Chumba repeated in third.


For the women, it was last year’s runner-up Helah Kiprop (2:21:27) setting a new course record.
She cut more than two and a half minutes from her time a year ago.
Amane Gobena (2:21:51) finished less than 30 seconds off the lead in this year’s race to take second.
Edna KIiplagat came in third at 2:22:36.
