Half Marathon results
Phillip Matthews (1:13:40) outpaced more than 1,500 runners to win the 4th annual Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon in Wales.
Mark Jones (1:14:37) finished just ahead of Ciaran McQuade (1:14:50) for second.
McQuade came in fourth a year ago.
The 2016 course dropped some of the twist and turns, while managing to retain the scenic elements associated with a trip up, down and across the River Usk.
For the women, it was Helen Wallington (1:24:30) holding off Rhian Jinny-Jones (1:24:43) for top honors.
In third was two-time defending champion Emma Wookey (1:27:02), who finished more than 10 minutes off her winning time from a year ago.
She took second in 2013.
