This weekend, the Skyrunning World Championships where taking place in Chamonix, France.
80 km du Mont Blanc
The event started on Friday with the longest race: the 80 km, with 6,000 m of elevation gain.
The difficult start of the season seems to be over for Emelie FORSBERG. She dominated the race from start to finish and won after a 12:38:49 run. Anna Frost confirmed here great comeback to competition. After a win in Transvulcania, she finished second in 12:46:52. Magdalena LACZAK from Poland took the third place in 12:58:51.
In the men’s race, victory goes to Luis-Alberto HERNANDO in 10:25:52. He had already won Transvulcania in May. Despite of a great finish, Frenchman Francois DHAENE couldn’t come back and took the second place in 10:29:33. The third place went to Ben DUFFUS in 10:52:33.
569 runners managed to cross the finish line.

Vertical Kilometer
The Vertical kilometer took place on the same day and crowned Kilian Jornet and Laura ORGUE-VILA. Back from his impressive record climb of Mt McKinley in Alaska, the Catalan mountain runner established a new record for the 3.8 km course in 00:34:18. Kilian had won last year’s edition in 03:23:39.
Laura ORGUE-VILA wins the ladies race in 00:41:29, a few seconds ahead of American runner Stevie KREMER (00:41:37).

Marathon
Due to the bad weather conditions on Sunday, the organizers had to modify the course of the Marathon. They avoided the highest section going to Aiguille des Posettes.
Despite the rain and the cold, Kilian Jornet took the win again, in 03:23:39. Michel LANNE (03:25:50) and Thomas OWENS (03:26:20) follow him on the finish line.
Italian runner Elisa DESCO wins the women’s race with a time of 03:53:33. The remaining positions on the podium go to American runners Megan KIMMEL (03:54:51) and Stevie KREMER (03:55:36).
2,167 runners finished the race.
