Las year’s runner-up Hillary Too (2:18:48) held off podium perennial Kennedy Kemei (2:19:01) and more than 4,500 other runners to win the Anthem Richmond Marathon in Virginia.
Too finished with a nearly identical time from a year ago.
The course includes a trip through the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University and a stretch alongside the James River.
Kemei, who took third a year ago (and in 2012), won it in 2011 with a course record 2:13:45.
He finished second in 2013.
Mengistu Tabor rounded out the top three with a time of 2:22:56.
For the women, it was Hirut Guangul (2:42:13) taking the top spot.
Jane Jerono Rotich earned runner-up honors with a time of 2:45:52.
Loice Kangogo came in third at 2:48:01.
Girma Gebre (1:03:34) finished just seconds ahead of Habtamu Arga Wegi (1:03:38) for first.
Almost 8,400 runners completed the half marathon.
In a tight race for third, Yonas Mebrautu (1:03:45) came in just ahead of Ayele Megersa Feisa (1:03:52).
For the women, it was Rachel Ward winning with a time of 1:12:23.
Valentine Kibet secured second at 1:14:21.
Zipporah Chebet (1:15:46) finished just a few strides in front of Tara Richardson (1:15:51) for third.
