With a 6:15 per mile pace, Stephen Vangampleare (2:43:50) had little trouble winning the 10th annual Sports Authority Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver Marathon in Colorado. Nearly 1,600 runners took to the new course, which started in Henderson, working its way south down the South Platte River, ending in downtown Denver. Christopher Bynum claimed second with a time of 2:47:43. Brian Folts (2:54:01) managed to hold off Mark Mulholland (2:54:21) for third. Folts finished seventh a year ago, Mulholland fifth. For the women, it was Anne Staeheli (3:13:41) coming in more than 10 minutes ahead of the field. Following Staeheli’s impressive performance was Molly Soasey (3:23:57) in second. Jessica Reading rounded out the top three with a time of 3:25:31.
