Results: Wangari misses world record by less than a minute in Milan

Half Marathon results

Of more than 6,000 participants in the 45th Stramilano Half Marathon, James Mwanji Wangari (59:12) was the only one to finish the IAAF run in northern Italy in under an hour.
His mark of 59:12 was good for seventh all-time in the world.
In a close race for second, Paul Kariuki Mwangi (1:01:31) finished just ahead of Amos Kibiwot Kurgot (1:01:56).


For the women, it was Nguriatukei Rael Kiyara (1:10:19) coming out on top.
Viola Jelagat earned runner-up honors with a time of 1:11:03.
Third place was decided by less than a second with Hellen Jepkurgat (1:11:34) managing to hold off Marry Wanjohi (1:11:35).
Jepkurgat finished fourth a year ago with a nearly identical time.
She also took in fourth in 2014.
