Silah Limo won the 2014 Gold Coast Airport Marathon & broke a 32-year-old record

Silah Limo won the Gold Coast Airport Marathon in 2:09:14. With this time, he broke a 32-year-old record for the fastest marathon ever run in Australia. The previous record had been set by Australian Rob de Castella at the Brisbane Commonwealth Games in 1982!

American Jeffrey Eggleston (2:10:52) took the second place and Japan’s Yuki Kawauchi (02:11:27) the third.

Women’s winner Japan’s Asami Kato, was running her first Gold Coast Marathon. She crossed the finish line after 2:28:51 establishing here new PB. The second place went to another Japanese runner Rika Shintaku in 02:30:37. Tsehay Desalegn Adhana from Ethiopia took the third place in 02:31:41.

4,924 runners finished the 2014 Gold Coast Marathon.

The Gold Coast Airport Marathon is Australia’s biggest Marathon Event with more than 27,000 athletes taking part in 6 running events and 2 wheelchair races.
