Jasper, Ala. – Event organizers of the Tallulah Bankhead Tribute announced today the 2016 Festival will feature a Half Marathon & 5K running event to start and finish in Historic Downtown Jasper.
All events will start and finish at the Square in Downtown Jasper and will pass several historic landmarks including the Carl Elliott House and the Bankhead House & Heritage Center.
The Tallulah Half Marathon, 5K and kids fun run will take place on Saturday June 11, 2016 and is expected to bring 500 runners into Downtown Jasper.
Tallulah Bankhead Tribute Director, Mike Putman, states, “We are very excited to be adding these running events to the Festival. The runs will bring hundreds of runners into downtown Jasper and to the Festival; runners who will stay the night and eat in our restaurants, shop in our shops and sleep in our hotels all while getting to see the beauty of downtown Jasper and celebrate the life of Tallulah, one of Alabama’s most famous stars of stage and film.”
The Tallulah Bankhead Tribute celebrates Tallulah’s contributions to the stage and film industry with parties, celebrity appearances and talkbacks, and, of course, shows. To date, Joel Vig of New York, will perform a one-man show as Truman Capote honoring the 50th Anniversary of the Black & White Ball that Tallulah reportedly crashed. Other events will be confirmed as the weekend approaches.
