US Road Sports Acquires New Jersey Marathon and Running Festival

Race and Festival Celebrates 15th Anniversary from April 29 – May 1, 2011

March 25, 2011: US Road Sports and Entertainment Group today announced that it has acquired the New Jersey Marathon and Running Festival from previous owners BDO Management. The race and festival celebrate their 15th anniversary in 2011, with the events taking place the weekend of April 29 – May 1. The New Jersey Marathon course starts and finishes on the oceanfront of Long Branch, NJ, with major sections along the beachfront of Asbury Park and Ocean Grove. The announcement was made by US Road Sports Founding Partners Peter Handy and Greg Laird, who also serves as CEO.

Runners can still register for the 2011 events at, which include the following:

Friday, April 29: The Health and Fitness Expo—registration, packet pick up, sponsors and vendors;

Saturday, April 30: *Health and Fitness Expo (see above); 3-Mile “Fun” Run/Walk; Kids Races; Fun Family Events for All Ages.

Sunday, May 1: New Jersey Marathon; Long Branch Half Marathon; Long Branch Half Marathon Relay.

“US Road Sports is delighted to add the New Jersey Marathon into our growing family of races,” says Handy. “With more than 12,000 runners expected for this year, the 15th anniversary of this great event is going to be exciting and eventful.”

The course is not only scenic, but it is also very flat and fast, running through some of the most scenic areas in the entire country," says Laird. “We’re very excited to bring our proven, high level of event production and management to a great venue such as New Jersey.”
