The Event is offering color options that coincide with local college sports teams for the first time in Event history.
PORTLAND, Ore. – A first for Marathons of this size, the Portland Marathon is allowing participants who register early to choose their finisher shirt color. The Event is offering their long-sleeved, gender specific shirts in the following featured colors while they last: Green with white and yellow (University of Oregon), orange with black and white (Oregon State University), purple with white and gold (University of Washington), and an option of blue with green and white (Portland Marathon’s classic colors). Participants will also receive a large custom race bib in coordinating colors.
The design of the finisher shirt, which can be identified easily, will remain the long-standing iconic logo that depicts a description of the course and it’s features along with the event year.
“We have seen incredible enthusiasm for this new feature,” explains Event Director Les Smith, “It has even sparked competition between university alumni and sports team supporters.”
The Portland Marathon, which began in 1971, is rated as one of the premier marathons in the U.S., one of the top 10 road race events in the U.S, and one of the top 40 races of all types and distances. Runner’s World called the Portland Marathon “the best people’s marathon in the West” and for the past ten years has ranked it as one of the top marathons in the country. Voted “Best Swag” for all the goodies the Portland Marathon provides it’s participants, the Portland Marathon proudly locally sources event finish items such as the participant finisher shirt, event bibs, tree seedlings, roses and more.
