Local Chris Mocko bested more than 6,000 runners with a time of 2:26:22 to win the 38th annual San Francisco Marathon.
The USATF certified, California course looped participants around the city hitting landmarks along the way including a trip across the Golden Gate Bridge, a tour of Golden Gate Park, and ending with a cruise down Haight street, past AT&T Park and under the Bay Bridge.
Benjamin Eversole (2:29:13) finished second, but just barely and with a bit of controversy.
Third-place finisher Jorge Maravilla (2:29:39) was comfortably in second late in the race before veering off course due to a lapse in marathon course markings causing him to get caught up in the 5K race.
For the women, it was Anna Bretan (2:49:42) and Devon Yanko (2:56:25) finishing one-two for a second year in a row, despite both posting slower times.
The pair were the only two to come in under three hours.
Joanna Reyes just missed the mark, coming in third with a time of 3:00:49.
Brothers Patrick and Andrew Monaghan tied for the top spot ahead of close to 8,000 runners in the First Half Marathon.
Patrick finished second a year ago, with a time almost three minutes slower than his 2015 finish of 1:13:51.
Solomon Demeku-Ousman came in third at 1:15:19.
For the women, it was Nicole Zielinski (1:28:25) by 17 seconds over Danielle Graham (1:28:42).
Abigail Bresheaers rounded out the top three with a time of 1:30:18.
Tyler Jermann topped 4,500 participants in the back half of the course better known as the Second Half Marathon with a time of 1:07:01.
Runner-up Matt Lenehan (1:09:59) beat Lauri Takacsi-Nagy (1:10:06) by just a few strides for second.
For the women, it was Tania Morimoto taking first with a time of 1:20:21.
Cack Wilhelm cut more than a minute from her runner-up finish from a year ago, but still finished second coming in at 1:21:27.
Michelle Meyer (1:22:18) made it in just ahead of Ashley Carroll (1:22:29) for third.
