Marathon results
Javier Madrid (2:26:46.3) bested close to 1,500 runners to win the seventh-annual Santa Rosa Marathon through the vineyards of Northern California.
Runner-up Justin Valdez (2:28:54.8) was the only other runner to finish the rolling hills run in under two and a half hours.
Benjamin Ludovici rounded out the top three with a time of 2:35:58.5.
For the women, it was Caroline Boller (2:45:27.0) being awarded first after Wendy Jennings was disqualified for missing check points mid race and a bit of controversy over communication post-race.
Leigh Gilmore secured second with a time 2:47:35.2.
In a tight race for third, it was Sarah Hallas (2:54:19.7) holding on to take it.
Hallas was one of three runners to finish within 15 seconds of each other.

Half Marathon results
Mario Fraioli (1:15:19.9) cruised to victory in the Santa Rosa Half Marathon, finishing more than six minutes ahead of a field of more than 1,300.
John Brust took second with a time 1:21:23.4.
Raymond Rodriguez (1:22:23.7) came in just ahead of Art Tomaszewski (1:22:26.0) to finish third.
For the women, it was Kari-Anne Samuelson (1:23:01.4) winning a race that was decided down the final stretch.
Bridget Zapata (1:23:39.6) beat out last year’s winner, Emily Kraus (1:23:57.7) for second.
