The Dash for the Future 5k & Festival

Friends of Montessori would like to invite you to join our efforts to support a healthy fitness habit for our children, while raising funds for Children’s House Montessori School of DeLand and other area participating schools. The Dash for the Future 5K & Festival, scheduled for Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Sandhill Golf Course in DeLand provides running opportunities for all ages and fitness levels. The event will kick off with the 5K Run, on a beautifully groomed course entirely on the Sandhill Golf Course grounds, providing a fast course for serious runners, or gorgeous rolling scenery for the more casual runner. The 5k will be followed by a free 1 Mile Fun Run, which will also be run entirely on the Sandhill Golf Course.

After the races, stick around to enjoy a day of affordable family friendly fun:            FREE Festival Admission            50 cent tickets for games, activities and food             Rock wall            "Be the Hamster" (human powered hamster wheel to make snowcones)             Bounce house             Face painting             Musical performances by local schools             A variety of fun food choices (provided by Encore Catering)             And much, much, more.....

Many of our student runners will train for months at their schools to prepare for the race, and would love to see their efforts result in much needed funds for their school.

Thru Feb 19 - $25.00
After Feb 19 and Race Day - $35

1 MILE REGISTRATION: Free, but T-shirts can be purchased for $10, guaranteed prior to Feb 19.

PACKET PICK-UP
Packet pick-up: Friday 4pm- 7pm and after 8 am on race day at Sandhill Golf Course.

9:45 am - Free 1 Mile Fun Run

Upon completion of the Free 1Mile Fun Run – Awards Ceremony

TEE SHIRTS
Shirts are guaranteed for all 5K participants registered prior to Feb 19th.  1 Mile participants may purchase a shirt for $10, guaranteed prior to Feb 19th.

5K AWARDS
Top overall male and female and top 3 male and female age groups will receive awards. Age groups include 14& under, 15-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 & over

PARKING
Parking is plentiful next to the race start location and around the building. 

TIMING & SCORING
5K Race will be timed and scored with a disposable chip provided, which will be attached to the back of the bib. The 1 Mile Run/Walk will not be chip timed.

When and where does the race take place?
Sunday February 27, 2016 at 9 am. The race starts and finishes at Sandhill Golf Course.

How long is the course?
3.1 Miles

How will I be timed?
The race uses an electronic timing system that records race time and place via a disposable transponder chip that will be given out at registration. Each individual competing in the 5K is required to use the race chip. Official times will not be recorded without a chip. There will be a clock at the finish line to view your time.

When and where do I pick up my registration materials?
Friday Feb 26th from 4-7pm or Saturday Feb 27th after 8 am at Sandhill Golf Course.

How will I receive my results?
Official results are posted for the top runners and in the categories awards are provided. Race staff has all results for on-site inquiries and results are posted on www.run4acause.org

Can I use my own race chip or tag rather than utilizing the one that is provided?
No, personalized chips will be provided to each participant.

Who gets a T-shirt
Only pre-registered runners that successfully complete the registration and payment processes before Feb 19th are guaranteed a race t-shirt. 

Can I participate with a stroller?
Yes, nurturing future generations of runners is a priority and demonstrating healthy lifestyles to our kids is special. Please, however, start in the later part of the runners.

Should I bring my own water?
You can, but there will be a water station on the course at the finish line. 

How do I register?
You may register online (preferred method) or register on race day.

I will be out of town on race day and not able to participate. Can I get my money returned?
We appreciate your race registration but we are unable to issue refunds. We are not in a position to credit your credit card or issue checks.

Will the race be held if it's raining?
The race is a "rain or shine" event. All participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, such as in a rain coat or hat. Umbrellas can pose a safety hazard to others, so please do not bring them.

Can I transfer my entry to someone else?
Yes, you can transfer, but there is a $5.00 transfer fee.

Where do I park?
Free parking is available at Sandhill Golfcourse, with overflow parking along the road outside of Sandhill Golfcourse.
