5K on Turkey Day

Hello! We are Abbey Landini and Emma Lawson and we are organizing the 5th Annual 5k on Turkey Day as our senior project! As Columbus North Cross County runners, we are excited to put together a run to benefit Columbus. The race will take place on Thanksgiving morning to remind everyone to be thankful for what they have and to provide the community with food and support to be thankful for. Registration fees and canned food donations will benefit Love Chapel, a church affiliated organization that offers a food pantry, housing aid, rent, and pharmaceutical assistance to struggling families and individuals in the Columbus area. In 2017, Love Chapel provided shelter for 300 different people, and in May the food pantry served 3,591 individuals. In the same year, they provided 351 laundry vouchers and 347 bus vouchers to those in need. This year, our goals are to raise $25,000 and 2,000 pounds of food as well as have 700 participants to help Love Chapel continue their charitable work. 

In addition to the registration fee, which includes the cost of your shirt, every participant must bring 3 or more cans to donate to Love Chapel's food pantry. We thank you for your generosity and can't wait to see you wobble before you gobble on Turkey Day!
