Be a Superhero... Save the Park 5k & Sidekick Fun Run

Get ready for the 2nd Annual Be a Superhero 5k!!!

Whether you grew up in Mercer or another small town, I am sure you have fond memories of long summer days spent at your town’s park. Mercer has a gem in the rough, a small piece of land that has been given to the town to enjoy. Just ask anybody in town about their days spent at Brandy Springs Park and a smile will spread across their face as they begin to share their memories. Tales of great tetherball games, being terrified of the high dive, a game winning home run, perhaps even a memory of a first love.
Brandy Springs Park has been in existence since 1948 and always been financially supported by donations from the community, one of only two in the county that does not receive government support. In the recent years, time has not been kind and donations have declined. It is now our time as residents, community leaders, parents and grandparents to give back to Brandy Springs Park.
Our beloved Brandy Springs is in need of our help, all of our help, no matter how large or small. It is time for the community to come together and BE A SUPERHERO, SAVE OUR PARK!

Event Description:

Be a SUPERHERO... Save the Park 5K: This point to point 5K course will start at the Mercer Elementary Schoool (301 Lamor Rd., Mercer, PA 16137) and finish at Brandy Springs Park.  The course is rolling with a long, fun down hill grade from mile 1.5-2.5.  There is 1 water station on the course. We invite all runners, walkers, and kids to join the fun! All participants will receive a unique finish medal, event shirt, and the awesome feeling of being huge supporter of the park!

Stick around and have some fun post race and  cheer on your fellow Superhero's at our Awards Ceremony.

Superhero Sidekick Fun Run: Your little Sidekick get to join in the fun with this .4 mile kids fun run! Children ages 5-10 can run alone (or with parent) on our fun and fast course around Brandy Springs Park. Youth Shirts available for Pre-registered children.  Each Child will recieve a special finishers prize.

Awards Ceremony/ Post Race: Post race refreshment (Water, Gatorade, Snacks) will be available. Stick around for our Awards Ceremonies! 
Top 3 overall Male/Female, and top 3 in each Age group (11 and under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 25-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+)

Parking/Transportation:
5K participants will have the following options:  Get dropped off at the start and picked up at the Brandy Springs, Park at the start and get shuttled back from the finish (free of charge), or add a mile to your day and enjoy a walk/jog between the 2 locations.

For the safety of our Superhero's; Access into and out of Brandy Springs Park will be limited during the event.
