About the event

STAGE 1 Cycling, AirLine Cycles, Skratch Labs, & Fat Orange Cat Brewing are proud to bring you Belltown CX, 6th Edition.

Pictured above: Our 2021 and 2022 course got great reviews. For 2023, we'll incorporate many of the same great features with a couple tweaks to keep things fresh and interesting.

RACE DETAILS

BE SURE TO PREREGISTER -- DAY-OF REGISTRATION WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE!

We packed as much into this event as we could, and then we packed even more. As always, Belltown CX will include our trade mark "special features" and lots of fun!  In fact, expect tons of fun, great people, sweet sweet music, and big prizes.  We want nothing short of the best in the northeast, and we want you to come be a part of the party!

What can you expect?  A great course that will be equal parts fun and challenging.  For example, this...

And this...

And this...

And, of course, plenty of this...

We are pleased to announce that we are a part of the NECX SingleSpeed series for 2023

.

We are also the host of the 2023 CT State Championships for cyclocross and will have a bunch of categories and some sweet USAC Medals to give out for the various age groups.

What else? How about just $20 for each additional race you register for on the same day!

Bring yourself, your CX rig, a tandem, and/or a hobby horse, and - of course - bring lots of friends to heckle you. We'll provide a great course, solid competition, fabulous prizes, Craftbird Food Truck, bumpin' tunes, and (most of all) good times! See you there!

We know you all loved the prize wheel prime in 2022, but the math was just too much for Brian Holdt and his abacus, so we're retooling the idea, and will be bringing back the prize wheel in another capacity.  There may still be random prizes for mid pack finishes, so make sure you show up to podiums either way.

Just a couple of things to note about the event as you're planning to attend.

1.  All dogs must be kept on leash (6 feet or shorter).  No exceptions.  A loose dog is dangerous to itself and the racers.

2.  No open alcohol containers. (YMCA property rule, not ours)

3.  PRERIDING THE COURSE WILL BE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE OFFICIALS.  THE COURSE MAY NOT BE OPEN FOR PRERIDING BETWEEN RACES.  We tried to build time into the schedule to allow it, but there may not be time.  There should be a block between: noon and 12:30.  All prerides must begin AFTER the finish line and you must check with the officials/volunteers at the officals tent to see if it is permitted at that time.  If you are preriding, DO NOT PASS ANY ACTIVE RACERS.  If you pass an active racer, we reserve the right to DQ you from your event and you will not get a refund.  You have been warned.  In the past we've offered preride on the day before the event.  Given the amount of rain that we've received and are predicted to receive, we are unable to offer preride before 7:15am Sunday morning.

3a.  Sunrise is at 7:11am.  Course will open for pre-ride at 7:15am and close at 7:50am.  If you want to pre-ride for the morning session, show up early.

4.  In the interest of serving our racers, if you cannot attend we will refund you for any reason at any time up to a week after the event.  Email us.  If you wanna make up a funny story, great.  If you just woke up and had a case of the "sunday scaries", that's fine too.

5.  Want to help out?  Sign up to volunteer here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4EABAF28A7FEC70-44801246-belltown

6.  There is no day-of registration.  You must register in advance.  Second race is available for $20 if you want to race multiple categories in a day.

7.  Seeding will be based on Cross-Results race predictor.

8.  Because we know how much you love racing cyclocross, we've partnered with Ghosts CX on Saturday October 21.  Register for one and get $10 off the other (coupon in the confirmation email).  We are also adding a prize for the racers who compete in the most categories over the course of the weekend.  We're calling it the "Bad Decision" Award.  It will be awarded on Sunday afternoon. (any racer who uses the coupon code but only registers for one of the races, or tries to double dip, the promoters reserve the right to remove your registration without refund)

9.  The FOC'n Hill is back.  First male and female riders to get up it on their bikes will get a crisp $100 and a 4 pack of FOC. (unless your name is Brooks Nablo)

10.  Why are the Open and Womens P123 races different lengths?  Don't you care about equality and equity?  We do.  So much so that we reached out to a handful of elite women to get their opinion, and based on that feedback we made this decision.  Given the constraints of running a whole bunch of categories in the day, and wanting to give women separate time slots from men, what made the most sense for our schedule was to have the P123 women and the 40+ Women share the course and do 50 and 45 minutes respectively, instead of forcing them to race with the men. (we try to make as many people happy as possible.  If you have scheduling suggestions for us that you think would work better, we are always happy to entertain them for next year)

11.  Belltown CX, like all Stage 1 Cycling events, is an inclusive race environment that is safe and welcoming to all participants, regardless of sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, race, religion, disability, or ethnic origin. Athletes are allowed to compete in the gender category that they identify as. Non-Binary athletes are welcome to compete in the Non-Binary category or any of the Open and Women categories.

We strive to create an atmosphere that makes all feel welcome. From Pros to first-time racers, from staff to spectators, we will not accept behavior that is deemed to be bullying or any form of harassment and violators will be asked to leave.

At any point, if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe or see behavior that seems to be making someone else uncomfortable, please speak to an official or staff member.
