Canary in the Cave 25k+ Trail Run

The 8th annual Canary in the Cave Trail Run will begin at 10 am on Saturday, November 2nd, 2018.  This 16.3 mile course leaves the Fayetteville Town Park and gradually climbs the Fayetteville Trail, arriving at Kaymoor Top approximately 2.8 miles into the race.  After a sneaky left turn off the gravel road and onto the Dalton Trail, you have another 1.5 miles to the first aid station.  Runners then complete a 5.2 mile loop on the Arrowhead Trail system before arriving back at this same aid station around mile 9.5.  From here, the course descends halfway to the bottom of the New River Gorge via the Craigs Branch Trail and Kaymoor Trail, eventually passing by the old Kaymoor mine just before an extremely challenging climb up the Kaymoor Miners Trail (gaining 500 ft vertical elevation in 0.5 miles) to the top of the gorge and the final aid station at mile 13.5.  The last 2.8 miles are the same as the first 2.8 miles, following the Fayetteville Trail back to the Fayetteville Town Park.
