Work off your high caloric Thanksgiving over indulgence with a great 3+ mile (5K) run on the trails, grass & campus around the Trumbull High-Agricultural Center. No traffic, gentle hills, & maybe some mud & slush if Mother Nature cooperates.
Our run includes great long sleeved shirts, brown(ies), other good food, some crazy prizes & leftovers from at least 15 other races (and maybe from some tag sales). Basically it’s anything we can find to keep costs down and have some fun.
YES- ALL ENTRANTS WILL GET THE COW KEY CHAINS THAT POOP WHEN YOU SQUEEZE THEM.
And the kids will each get one if they participate in the FREE Kids Cow Patty Fun Run.
Last year the ages of participants ranged from 8 to 80+. Wear your old running shoes if you are concerned about such things.
Our age groups for awards: Overall M&F are taken out, 9 & under, 10-12, 13-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
This year we are again part of the CT USATF Cross Country Series. Believe it or not this event was once voted “One of the most unique races in CT” by some very interesting people who regularly dress as cows & other brown mammals.
Our proceeds will be given to Infinite Love for Kids Fighting Cancer in the name of Mia McCaffrey. Any extra ca$h benefits the THS Girls Cross Country team.
It is with a heavy heart that we dedicate a portion of the proceeds of the Cow Chip Cross Country in the name of forever 6 year old Mia Rose McCaffrey, to Infinite Love for Kids Fighting Cancer. Mia was as brave and strong as she was caring and beautiful. Pediatric Cancer stole this little girl from us all and we will use this event to #MakeItAmazing in her name. Pediatric Cancer Research only receives 4% of the national cancer research funding. Infinite Love for Kids Cancer is a foundation that is dedicated to raising funds to improve the quality and quantity of treatment options for Childhood Cancers. This year they are committed to raising $250,000 to invest in research specific to Neuroblastoma. Through your registration, optional donation, and/ or sponsorship you are helping people, you are educating people, and you are providing people with the most precious thing one person can give another – HOPE! Thank you for being a part of the solution with us! Co- director Jim McCaffrey
REGISTER BY NOV. 16 TO GUARANTEE YOUR SHIRT SIZE. After that you will not have a choice and you’ll get whatever is available. Sorry but we must order & purchase shirts by 11/7 in order to ship in time to print. Like most of us- our printers are closed Thanksgiving and the weekend.
Thanks to THS girls cross country team you will be treated to baked goods, cookies and brown post race snacks! We do have a nice indoor spot at the Trumbull High Agricultural Center- but come dressed ready to run and stay warm if necessary.
The course is usually designed and determined the week before the race so we won’t have a course map till then!
Awards to the overall mens & womens champs as well as three deep in at least 8 age groups. Fun & crazy prizes as the race directors clean out their basement to make room for winter storage. Timing by Jim Gerweck/Club CT (“Accuracy is our middle name, Questionable is our first!”).
Plenty of parking and indoor plumbing!
