What began in 1981 as the Blakely Heart Fun 5,000 Meter Run was renamed the Dr. James H. Crowdis Run two years later in honor of the long-time physician and Heart Fun Chairman. The race was held continuously from 1981 through 1995, revived in 2012 and has now added a 10K race. Both the 5K and 10K are fast, USATF certified courses. The Dr. Crowdis Run is a Dothan Runners Club Grand Prix event and an official Peachtree Road Race qualifier.
Finishers in both races will receive medals. Trophies will be awarded to male and female overall winners, masters, grand masters, senior grand masters, and super grand masters. Trophies will also be awarded to the top 3 finishers in age groups from 10 & under to 85 & over.
Race walkers may also compete at the same time but in separate categories. The overall male and female walker in each race will receive a trophy plus the next three male and female walkers will also be awarded trophies. No running is allowed for race walkers.
A non-competitive one mile run will also be held with medals awarded to all finishers. The one-mile, 5K and 10K will all begin together at 9:30am ET.
T-shirts are included in the race entry unless participants choose a no t-shirt option. To be guaranteed your correct t-shirt size, it would be helpful to register by January 9th.
