About the Earth Day Festival

The HHI Earth Day Festival is a FREE non-profit event in which we invite families and friends of all ages to come and learn about what they can do to make a difference in the Lowcountry.

The festival will feature organizations that focus on environmental efforts, conservation and learning programs in the area. Our hope is to give these change makers a platform to speak about who they are/what they do and to be able to get more people involved in their efforts.

Organizations will be encouraged to bring information about any upcoming events they might have (ex: trash pick ups, oyster bagging etc) as well as offer kids’ learning activities and/or games at the festival.

One of the activities we’re super excited about is our recycled art table. As we will be hosting a trash clean up at the event we will be sorting through the trash found and creating art pieces with items that can be repurposed.

This event is purely educational and just a chance to get families up and outside to learn the importance of Earth Day and the many ways they can make a difference in the Lowcountry.

About The Outside Foundation

The Outside Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit founded in 2014. The Foundation strives for it's mission through programs and advocacy.  To facilitate access to the outdoors for all kids, The Foundation organizes and provides scholarships for the Kids in Kayaks program, which aims to get every 7th grader in Beaufort County out kayaking. In addition, The Foundation coordinates custom outdoor and give-back programming with local schools and clubs.  In 2018 The Foundation established the Oyster Recycling and Reef Building Initiative which has created an oyster recycling drop off location and collected over 52 tons of oyster shell. An oyster shell recycling route, volunteer oyster baggings and reef building are also supported and organized by The Foundation. Additional Foundation activities include beach clean-ups, waterway clean-ups, and our annual Keep the Broad Creek Clean Festival - an educational fair for families!
