Fit to Fight

On Saturday, May 16, we will host an event at the Spencer Cancer Center, 2501 Village Professional Drive Opelika, Alabama 36801. 100% of the money raised for this event will support the Robert and Marjorie Goodson Oncology Wellness Program. This program was created to provide our very own Spencer Cancer Center patients with the opportunity to participate in a 12-week exercise and massage regiment at no cost to the patients.

Race Details: The 5k and 5k Relay start at 8:30AM. The 1k starts at 9:30AM. The 1k runners will have a 1 loop course while the 5k relay runners will do the 1k loop 5x (1x each leg). The 5k runners will have a different route.

Race Registration and Packet Pickup: Online registration ends on May 13 at 10PM. Race day registration is open 8:00-8:30AM at Spencer Cancer Center.  Everyone gets one raffle ticket and a sweat towel included with race registration. Purchase additional raffle tickets on the Run Sign Up website and/or on day of event. Packet Pickup is at the Spencer Cancer Center on Friday, May 15 8AM-6PM.

Race Costs: 5k - $25 through 4/13, $35 4/14-5/13 and $40 on race day, 5k Relay - $50/team through 4/13, $60 4/14-5/13 and $75 on race day, 1k - $15 through 4/13, $20 4/14-5/13 and $25 on race day.

Awards: Awards will be at 10:30 and raffle drawing will start at 11AM (you must be present to win). Top 3 male and female 5k runners and top male, female, and coed relay teams will receive hand crafted pottery.

The Afterparty: This is a family friendly and pet friendly (absolutely no pets allowed inside the Spencer Cancer Center) event including music, face painting, a bounce house, balloon animals, and sprinkler setup. After the race, our very own retired CEO (and director of fun) – Terry Andrus will provide the finish line food. Stick around and visit our vendor tables who will have items for sale and items to raffle. A portion of their proceeds will directly benefit the foundation.

The Goodies: All race registrants will receive a sweat towel. All 5k registrants who register by April 24 will have a choice of either a hat or buff.  A limited supply of these items, as well as some T-shirts, will be for sale at the event for those who register after this date and for race day registrants.
