Flirt With Dirt is back (again). Changing things up a bit (again). This time around the race will be on Memorial Day weekend. Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 8:00 AM. We are also increasing the distance from a 5K to an 8K, which equals out to 4.97 miles. That’s under 5 miles, don’t be intimidated. The race will still be held at Riverbend Recreation Area, with a scenic route that runs through the park on a variety of dirt, grass, and paved trails. Just think of it as a nice stroll through the woods!
Here is where it gets interesting.
I want this to be a stripped down race with only the basics. Don’t worry, there will be food and refreshments to keep everyone nourished and hydrated. There will even be some sort of awards for competitive spirit, though I don’t know what that will be just yet. However, don’t expect to find a race shirt, that just adds cost and complexity. The reason for all of this? I want the most money to go right back into our charity.
PROJECT HAPPY FEET
Proceeds are being raised towards Project Happy Feet, a Hancock Christian Clearing House community program. Project Happy Feet gives kids living in Hancock County a voucher to buy shoes at participating stores. Think about that. We’re not just raising money to give kids shoes, we’re allowing them to go to the store and pick out their own shoes! Imagine how excited those kids will be! Now for some bad news. Project Happy Feet is underfunded this year and is at risk of not being able to continue. We have a chance to change that, to support a program which has been positively impacting children in our community since 2015. That is why Flirt With Dirt is proud to sponsor Project Happy Feet.
Was that enough reason to register? Only $10, support a great cause, wait… there’s more.
Flirt With Dirt will be the first race in the inaugural Hancock County Trail Series brought you to by the Findlay Striders. Join us as we traverse across trails in several of our wonderful Hancock Parks throughout the year. Each race will be a unique distance. Each race will take place at a different park.

Registration is simple, just show up. Findlay Striders will be timing each race and automatically tabulating the series results. Participants will score overall and age group points based on placement in the event (1st – 1 point, 2nd – 2 points, etc). The lowest three scores will be summed to determine placement overall and by age group. The top overall per gender and age group will be recognized and receive trail series awards at the party.
