At Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine (GCSOM) we are dedicated to “serve society using a community-based, patient-centered, interprofessional and evidence-based model.” As part of our commitment to the community, we are organizing the 10th Annual Turkey Trot 5K/10K Walk/Run on behalf of Friends of the Poor. The event will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. at GCSOM and will be preceded by a Tiny Trot for children at 8:00 a.m. with activities continuing through the morning. The Tiny Trot is a series of children’s relay races in addition to crafts and face painting! Ages 13 and under are free, with a suggested donation of canned goods for the Friends of the Poor Food Pantry. The Tiny Trot will be roughly 100 to 200 meters in length.
Please note that the deadline to register and receive a t-shirt is Oct. 12. Anyone who registers after this date is not guaranteed a t-shirt.
Packet pick up: Located at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, 525 Pine Street, Scranton PA 18509 on Friday, November 1 from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, November 2 from 12-3 p.m.
Day of registration will be from 7:00 to 8:15 a.m.
Turkey Trot proceeds benefit Friends of the Poor, a non-profit agency that has served the Scranton area since 1986. The organization seeks to ease the burden of living in poverty and enhance the quality of life for all. They operate eight food pantries throughout the county, as well as offer clothing, furniture, household items, utility assistance, medical transportation, summer camps, after-school programs, among other programs.
Please join us following the race for a fun-filled morning of raffles, prizes, kid relays, crafts and more as we support Friends of the Poor!
