About the event
Strut your Mutt at the Georgia SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) 7th Annual Run for the Rescues 5K & Fun Run. The Fun Run will start at 8:30 AM, in front of City Hall. The 5K will start at 9:15 AM, in front of the Library on Main Street. We encourage everyone to bring their dogs for this run to benefit homeless pets. After the race stick around for awards, prizes, food, beverage, lots of vendors and much more!! The Georgia SPCA is a 501 C3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to alleviating the pet overpopulation problem in Georgia. As a No Kill organization, all healthy animals accepted by the Georgia SPCA are placed in an adoption center or foster home until adopted. All pets are fully vetted prior to adoption, including all vaccinations, heartworm prevention, spay or neuter and micro-chip.
Start Times:
The Fun Run (one mile) will start at 8:30 AM in front of CIty Hall, & the 5K will start at 9:15 AM in front of the Library on Main Street. We encourage everyone to bring their dogs for this run to benefit homeless pets.
Race Goodies:
All competitors who register early will receive the Run for the Rescues T-Shirt (late registration and day of only while supplies last) & Runners Bags.
There will be trophies/prizes awarded to the top finishers for both Men and Women Overall/Masters and in age groups - 3 deep. Awards will be given to the Top 3 Dogs crossing the finish line in the 5K.
Packet Pick-Up:
Participants who register online, In-store at Big Peach Suwanee Location, or via mail can pick-up their race number in advance at the following Big Peach Running Co. location: Friday, March 24th; 1pm to 7pm –Suwanee location. Or pick-up their race number on the day of the race at Suwanee Town Center Park beginning at 6:30 am.
*All Registrations AFTER 5:00PM on Thursday, March 23th, will ONLY be available for Pick Up on Race Day Morning. NO race numbers are mailed. The 5K race is chip timed by Runners Fit Race Works.
Fun Run:
The Fun Run will start at 8:30AM, in front of City Hall, over a course of one mile. Participants will receive a medal, T-Shirt and Runners Bag. Bandanas will be awarded to all dogs participating in the event.
5K:
The 5K will start at 9:15 AM, in front of the Library on Main Street. Participants will receive a T-Shirt and Runners Bag. Bandanas will be awarded to all dogs participating in the event.
Registration Fees:
$25 - 5K
$30 - 5K after March 10, 2017
$15 - Fun Run
$20 - Fun Run after March 10, 2017
*Registration Fees are Non-Refundable
Participation Rules:
For your dog’s safety, and to make this event enjoyable for all, participants must abide by the rules listed below. We encourage the participation of dogs that are accustomed to regular exercise and are well adjusted to crowds and noisy environments with large numbers of people and other dogs.
Dog must be current on all shots and rabies vaccination. Dog must wear an ID Tag. No dogs in heat and no aggressive dogs. Dog must be leashed (6ft. max length) & in control. No retractable leashes please. You must pick up after your dog. Disposable bags and water will be provided Children must be at least 13 years old to participate with a dog without adult supervision.Races offered by this event
