The Helene Cody Cranbury 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run is held on a flat and fast course in the tree-lined streets and parks of Cranbury, NJ. The 5K is chip-timed and USATF-certified with water stations and musical performers throughout the course. It is perfect for runners and walkers of all levels, from elite runners looking to score a personal record to those who want to try a 5K for the first time. The 1 Mile Fun Run is a great race for walkers, beginner runners, and kids of all ages and their parents.
The post-race celebration at the Cranbury Fire Department will have a DJ, drinks, bagels, fruit, and free massages. Raffle prizes will be awarded to lucky race participants. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers overall and in each age group for the 5K. Every 1 Mile Fun Run finisher will receive a medal and trophies will be awarded to the top 3 boys and girls. The Cranbury Day celebration will begin immediately after the race on Main Street.
This event is the main fundraiser for the Helene Cody Foundation, whose mission is to inspire youth to volunteer, to better their communities and themselves. Helene planned to revive the Cranbury Day 5K, a community event that had been discontinued in 2006, as a way to combine her love of distance running and community service for her Girl Scout gold award project. When she passed away in 2008, a classmate held the first Helene Cody Cranbury 5K in memory of Helene for his Eagle Scout project. Every year since then, the Helene Cody Foundation has used the 5K to bring the community together and use the proceeds to sponsor youth service projects and provide scholarships. All proceeds go directly to the Helene Cody Foundation, a 501©(3) charity. We hope you will join us on September 7th!
