We went running with a group with friends so it was easier and much fun to run.

This distance is suited for people looking to build their stamina and would encourage runners to go this distance once a quarter at least

This is a well-organized marathon race, the only long-distance running event in the whole of West Africa! I plan, in the very near future, to participate in the main event in person. Thumbs up to the organizers for a job well done! This year's event was superb!

To prepare for a successful marathon race, you have to train and condition your body to run long distances without too much stress. This will include learning how to breathe while running. Mouth-breathing isn't advisable, especially, in endurance races like marathons and ultras. You must learn to predominantly breathe nasally to improve oxygen intake and processing, as well as ATP production. A very important piece of advice that I give to would-be marathoners is that they should run, at least, one 20-mile or more distance each week while training, as this will help condition their body to tolerate such distances during a race. The body will learn if it is taught to endure long distances! Put it (the body) through the hoops and it will respond positively! Furthermore, taking a break from training one week before a scheduled marathon event is important. Also, eating a carbo-rich diet the evening before, and a good breakfast on the morning of the race is of paramount importance in ensuring a successful race.

Being my first official Marathon it was a day I looked up to. Virtually counting the days and hours leading to it. Because of the religious setting here, the road was very free on Sunday but because I had great expectations and desire to complete the race I had to motivate myself. I look forward to the the day when I can travel to Ile-Ife and run with others from other countries. I’m really grateful to Dayo for the invitation and Mr.Sphinx, my mentor for introducing and inviting me into this new adventure

Battled snow and rain and the ice puddles. Definitely not typical weather or sights for Ife Marathon but that is the covid era.

It is my first official marathon. The fact I was able to complete and cross the finishing line makes it very amazing and exciting for me. Especially the thought of receiving a medal. I hope to participate in the real marathon

Running is finding myself with my inner self. It is a state of joy and gives me a desire to inspire those around me to want to do a lot of exercise, why not run marathons with me!
