DIRECTIONS TO THE START
From I-10, Transmountain (loop 375) exit, in west El Paso, go uphill (east)
3.5 mile to the State Park entrance. Enter the park, show your pass, entry fee waived
for runners only, proceed 2 mile to extreme north end of the park to post #44.
ALL TRAIL RUNNERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO CHECK IN ON RACE DAY, SO PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY
Please note, everyone must pick up packets and the park entrance permit before race day. Any spectators
will be required to pay the $5.00 entrance fee into the park. The fee can be prepaid and help the process
of getting everybody into the park. Please be courteous of others.
The 4 mile trail run will have a portion of the route on the paved road which will loop around the back of the park before proceeding down the park road and then over to the path taking you back up on trails and through the start area before heading back down on the trails. There will be water at shortcut one.
The 8 mile trail run will have a portion of the route on the paved road before going onto the beginners trail and out on lower sunset to shortcut one which will bring you back up to the start finish area. There will be water at shortcut one and at the beginners trail.
Both races will start at 8:00 a.m.
Please keep in mind, these are trail runs; distances will be as accurate as possible but certain trail sections may be relocated before race day due to any unforeseen circumstances. Course maps plus information on the Franklin Mountains are available at the State Park and Up and Running.
Please be aware of people who may be trying to pass you on the trails. If you are coming up on somebody and you want to pass, please alert them to your presence and tell them which side you will pass them on.
If you are running with music, please keep the volume low enough so you can hear runners coming up from behind you. Do not leave any trash or debris on the trails.
2 HOUR CUTOFF FOR THE 8 MILE TRAIL RUN
IF YOU DO NOT CHECK IN RACE DAY AT THE START LINE – YOU WILL NOT BE IN THE RESULTS
