Join the PRS Running Club, PRS Race Timing, Jacksonville Running Company, and the Hyde Park Golf Club on Saturday, August 13th for an evening of Cross Country races at the Hyde Park Golf Course.   

There are two races running the same course, 30 minutes apart.

Race #1 – 5000 Meter XC Run – 18 & Under

This race is reserved for athletes ages 18 and under.   This event will be a great tune up for high schoolers for the upcoming cross country season.   Male and females will run together.  


Race #2 – 5000 Meter XC Run – All Ages

The second race is open to anyone, any age.


Both will feature awards for individuals and teams (see team information below)  


All participants will receive a free beer to anyone of legal drinking age or a free soda for those under 21.   


There is a cap of 200 participants for both races combined.


Post Race Activities

All participants will receive one free beverage including beer for those of the legal drinking age.   There will be hot dogs and chips available for purchase as well.     


Race Awards
Individual Awards

The top ten male and female finishers in each race will receive a race award and a special prize.


Team Awards

The top three male and female teams in each race will receive awards.


All runners are eligibile for both individual and team awards.

Paper Registration

For this race only, we are allowing paper registration for those that prefer to mail in a registration form instead of registering online.   To register using paper registration download the attached form and mail it to the address listed below with a check made out to PRS Race Timing for the proper amount due.  Paper registrations must be received by August 9, 2016.

Race Course

The run starts and finishes at the Hyde Park Golf Club Clubhouse.    The course will run entirely on the golf course from holes 1 through 13 and the driving range.   This will be a run on both terrain and asphalt and will cross cart paths and bridges at points.    Cross Country spikes are allowed on the course.


PLEASE NOTE – As this course is run on a golf course, there will be spots of uneven ground, small swales, changes in surfaces (grass to cart paths to wooden bridges) and possible trip hazards on the course (pinecones, sticks, etc.).   Runners will need to be aware of the course at all times and take precautions to keep even footing at all times.

Teams

All participants are encouraged to create a team.   There is no additional cost to participate on a team.    The team setup and scoring are as follows:

Teams may have a minimum of three participants and a maximum of five

Teams are gender specific (male or female – no coed)

The fastest three runners on each team will count in scoring

The fourth and fifth runners on each team will not count in scoring but will displace other teams in scoring

Points are awarded based on gender finishing place.  (i.e. 1st place is 1 point, 10th place is 10 points)

The team with the lowest score will be the winner.

The top five male and female times, regardless of which heat, will win a free entry into the Quadrant 5k Runtoberfest race on October 22, 2016.

The PRS Running Club of Jacksonville, Florida was founded by a group of friends who felt that the Jacksonville running community needed a running club where, on any given day of the week, runners of all abilities could meet up with their friends for a great run and a good time.


Unlike other running groups, the PRS Running Club has its own coach, Paul McRae.  Coach McRae, a legendary runner in the Jacksonville, Florida community. Coach McRae is a native of New Zealand and President of Personal Running Solutions, a local Jacksonville business that provides customized training plans and offers one-on-one training sessions.  In fact, the symbol of the PRS Running Club, the running kiwi shown above, affectionately known as “Paul”, is the national symbol of New Zealand, known for its ability to survive and persevere even in the most adverse of conditions and circumstances, qualities that are important to any runner. Coach McRae, who has run a 2:27:50 marathon, 1:04:35 half marathon, 28:53 10K and 13:57 5K, along with winning the inaugural Melbourne Marathon and hundreds of local races, attends most of the group runs providing encouragement, inspiration and insight.


The PRS Running Club, with a mission of promoting and encouraging running by educating the community about the benefits of long distance running and endurance athletics, has monthly social events, annual running retreats, puts on fun races to bring new people into running (like the Bold City Beer Run Series and the Krispy Kreme Challenge), and provides scholarships to deserving local high school athletes.

Race Information

Race times and dates are subject to change without notice at any time for any reason. In the event the race time or date is changed or if the race is cancelled, for any reason, there will not be any refunds under any circumstances. In the event of bad weather every effort will be made to conduct the race, however it may be moved to an alernate date, time, or cancelled within hours of the starting time. Please be sure to check the PRS Race Timing website and Facebook page for updates prior to departing to the race for any last minute changes or instructions.


Chip Timing

The race will be chip timed using a shoe chip system.   Chips will be distributed at the packet pickup.   All runners must cross the mat at the finish line with their chip properly attached to their shoe to score in the race.  Chips must be returned at the conclusion of the race at the finish line.   Runners not returning chips will be charged a fee of $30.
