Come run a 10k or Half Marathon at beautiful Lincoln Lake on April 10th in support of local families experiencing food insecurity. This unofficial, no frills, no whining, event is free but we hope that you’ll consider donating money in lieu of the entrance fee to help purchase food and basic household essentials (soap, shampoo, feminine hygiene products) for local families. Note: 100% of all donations will go to NWA families and food pantries (including Grace Place in Lincoln).
Arkansas has some of the highest rates of food insecurity in the country. And food insecurity rates have only increased with COVID-19. Many experiencing food insecurity are children.
Alicia Johnson has done a ton of work locally advocating for families and she has graciously offered her money app information to receive virtual donations (Venmo:
aliciami89, PayPal: Aliciami89gmail.com; Cash App: $aliciami89 – please put in description Lincoln Lake Race) or you can bring cash the morning of the race.
Doug Johnson and I will mark the course with flagging and you can arrive anytime between 9am and 2pm on 4/10 to run the race. This will keep people socially distant and allow for a diversity of schedules. In and around the start/finish area, wear a mask and don’t be an idiot.
The trails and forest around Lincoln Lake are gorgeous; if you’ve never been to Lincoln Lake you’re in for a treat. Expect lots of single track greatness, beautiful rock formations, smooth trail mixed with some mild technical fun sections, amazing views of the lake, and some climbs but nothing serious (should be a pretty fast course).
You will be required to track your own time and check in when finished with your result. The course is 10k’ish (1 loop), Half Marathon’ish (2 loops)…don’t expect a perfect 6.2 or 13.1 (not gonna happen). We will figure out some sort of award for top male and female at each distance. There will be no aid on the course but water and perhaps some bagged salty snacks will be at the start/finish if you need it.
