Lory's Place 5K Run,Walk, & Rock

About Lory's Place:
Since the opening of Lory’s Place bereavement programs in 2004, we have been honored to support over 33,500 children and adults after the death of a significant person. Our programs reach beyond our facility doors offering over 50 peer support groups in area schools.

In 2017, we began holding Grief 101 information sessions and peer support groups at The Readiness Center and the Catholic Community Center, additionally, we are collaborating with the Boys & Girls Club of Benton Harbor. Lory’s Place continually seeks opportunities to share our expertise and compassionate grief support, with additional schools, businesses, and communities.

About this Race:
This is the 14th annual Lory's Place Run, Walk and Rock to benefit Lory's Place, a Grief Healing and Education Center of Caring Circle, a Lakeland Health Affiliate.  Every year, Lory’s Place is honored and grateful for the community’s support of Run Walk Rock. All of the programs and services at Lory’s Place are available at no charge. That means that no child or adult is ever turned away because of an inability to pay. The children, adults, and families who are part of Lory’s Place join us in expressing deepest gratitude to you for supporting our mission of grief healing. This race has been endorsed by the Michigan Fitness Foundation.

Course Description:
The course will take runners and walkers through the Edgewater Development. Come and race beside sailboats in the marina, along the river, past Lake Michigan and its sandy beaches, down the historical brick streets of Ridgeway, and into parts of St. Joseph’s newest developments. All race events will begin and end at Lory’s Place in St. Joseph.

8:30 a.m. - 5K Run and 5K Walk

Cost/Registration Dates:
*Sprinter - If registered by March 31                                                                                         $20
*Middle of the Pack - If registered from April 1 to 30                                                               $25
*Last Dash - If registered from May 1 to 17 (not guaranteed to receive a t-shirt)                  $30
*Back of the Pack - If Registered on May 18 or 19 (not guaranteed to receive a t-shirt)       $35
*If you registered May 1st to May 19th you are NOT guaranteed an event t-shirt. On Race Day you can check to see if there are any extras in your size to pick up one then.

NEW Family/Group Rate:
Families or groups of four or more, receive $5 off each registration until May 17th.

Corporate Group Registration:

Champions for Children Challenge:
Students, teachers, staff, and administrators are invited to represent their school in either the 5K walk or run! The school that has the most participants will receive the “Champions for Children” traveling trophy and a $500.00 check from Honor Credit Union. You must indicate the school and/or grade you’re representing on the registration form to count towards this participation award. Please note the school on your registration in the area where it says "School Attending" if it is not on the list please include in the next question and it will be counted towards the school you listed.

T-Shirts:
To be guaranteed a t-shirt participants must register before April 30th.  After April 30th, Note: If you registered for the 5K Run or 5K Walk from May 1 to May 19 you are not guaranteed a event t-shirt as noted on the registration form.

Awards:
The top three age finishers in each run and walk category will receive an award. Awards this year are still being determined, so stay tuned. NEW.....We will have the awards available for all winners to pick up following a brief closing ceremony.

Age Categories:
8 and under, 9-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, and 85+
*We have added some additional age categories for our friends that are 70 years of age and older.

Packet Pick Up Information:
Participants who pre-registered can pick up their race packets on Friday, May 18, from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. at
Lory’s Place, 445 Upton Drive, St. Joseph, MI.  

Parking:
Please park in the Whirlpool Tech Center parking lot located south of Momany Drive on Upton Drive.

Rocking Chair Sponsorship:
Requested donation of $150 per rocking chair may reflect gifts of an individual or a group. Rocker sponsors are invited to design their own dedication signs to hang on the rockers during the race. Rocker sponsorships are due on or before May 11.

Rocking Chair Raffle:
If you register by May 17th you will automatically be entered to win one of our signature white rocking chairs.
