NAMI LV 5K Run/Walk for Mental Illness Awareness

The annual NAMI Lehigh Valley 5K Run for Mental Illness Awareness will occur at Bicentennial Park in Bethlehem, PA on Saturday., Sept. 17, 2016.

The 5K run is on flat paved roads in a suburban area. Warning: there is LIVE TRAFFIC!  Prizes for first place female and male runners and for top runners in each age bracket, female and male. Participants receive T-shirts and tickets for a basket raffle. There is food before and after the event, live music, a playground and grassy area for children, and restrooms. No strollers, bikes, or runners under age 14. Race day registration is available, but online pre-registration is preferred.  If you wish for your registration fee to benefit the Vivek Ananthan Youth Initiative, please state this in a note to the Race Director using the "Race Contact Info"  button.  Registration fees and donations stay in the Lehigh Valley to improve the quality of life for people affected by mental illness through education, support, and advocacy. Walkers have a separate, shorter course on a paved path in the park. The walk, which begins at 9:20, is not a race. The walk is free; donations accepted! Walkers register online this year. 

T-shirts and tickets for the basket raffle are available to both walkers and runners. The date to reserve a shirt has passed. If you didn't sign up in time, there will be shirts at the event as long as they last.

Directions to Bicentennail Park in East Allen Township, 5450 Liberto Lane, Bethlehem, PA 181017:

From Route 22: Take Airport Road (Rt. 987) NORTH for 3.6 miles to Dogwood Road (Bicentennial Park sign on your left). Turn LEFT onto Dogwood Road. Go 0.7 miles to where Dogwood makes a hard left and becomes Hanover Street. Go 0.3 miles on Hanover to Liberto Lane on the RIGHT. This is the park entrance. Race and walk check-ins and registrations are at the pavilion in the tree grove at the top of the hill. The race will start/finish in the parking lot. The walk will be on a paved loop trail in the park.
