WELCOME TO THE 11TH EDITION OF ON THE ROCKS @ FRENCH CREEK!!!

 

GENERAL INFO:

Day-Of Registration: CASH OR CHECK ONLY, $10 surcharge per usual.Food Truck: Mobile Mess Hall will be serving up recovery meals, with rumors breakfast items as well (TBD).Kids Race: Approx. 12:30 for the littlest rippers!Team Tents: We’ll have a tent row. Place tents close so everyone gets a spot!

 

REG FEE REFUND INSURANCE:

$6 Insurance thru TBR: TBR offers any-reason refund insurance for $6. This option must be selected on the FIRST page of registration and IS NOT the third-party insurance offered by BikeReg at checkout.

 

FCSP and MASS Rules:

Alcohol: French Creek State Park enforces a NO-ALCOHOL policy. No alcohol is allowed at the venue.MASS Rules: https://www.masuperseries.com/mass-general-rules/License: This is non-sanctioned race and therefore DOES NOT require a cycling license.Racing Age: Age-graded classes are determined by your racing age. Your racing age is defined as your age on December 31st of the current year. For example, a Cat 2 rider who turns 40 on December 25th, 2023 would be in the Cat 2 40-49 category, even if he/she/they are 39 at the time of the race. Similarly, a junior who will turn 15 in December would not be allowed to race U15 (Under 15) category. Parents – please take note of this for your juniors.Gear: Helmets must be worn when racing and warming up. No earbuds while racing or warming up.No Pre-Riding during races!

 

Race Course, Categories and Laps:

Course: The course is the same as recent years. Pure PA; rocks, roots, challenging climbs, and bone-jarring descents.On Strava: https://www.strava.com/segments/9419490Course Map: https://meta4.smugmug.com/French-Creek-Map/i-KQZsFD4/ACats 1-3 and Endurance: Laps are approximately 8 miles each. Endurance: Starts 9:00, 4+ hoursCat 3: Starts 9:05; One lap, 8 milesCat 2: Starts 10:30; Two laps, 16 milesCat 1: Starts 1:00 PM; Three laps, 24 milesFirst-Timer/Cat 4: One lap, approximately 5 miles. Starts ~9:30.The Cat 4 course follows the full course but bypasses the Nemesis/Six-Penny/Lenape section between miles 4.5 and 7.5.Pre-Riding: The course will not be marked until the afternoon before the race. Group Camp 1, the start/finish area, will not be accessible until that Friday afternoon. However, the course is easily accessible from either the Scott's Run Lake or Hopewell Lake parking areas. 

 

Payouts:

Equal Payouts: The same payout schedule applies to both men and women classes, and is outlined by MASS here: https://www.masuperseries.com/series-classes-and-cash-payouts/The payout schedule may be revised at race director’s discretion. For each cash field:Three starters to pay 1st place onlyMinimum 4 starters to pay 1st & 2nd placeMinimum 6 starters to pay 3-deepEndurance: To qualify for podium cash in Endurance, you must race for a MINIMUM of 4 hours. You have until the timing clock reads 3:59 to head out for your final lap. Additionally, for cash payout minimum of 6 riders per class to pay 3 deep. Three riders to pay first place.

 

Bucks for Bikes:

Back for 2024 - $2.00 has been added to your registration. This is part of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling Leagues "Bucks for Bikes" Program. From each registration, $1.00 will go to the league and $1.00 will go to our local PICL teams.

Weather and Cancellation:

Race is light rain or shine only. In the event of a weather-related cancellation, we are working on a future rain date.If rain is likely, the decision to race or cancel will be made the day before the race.Cancellation insurance is offered on the registration page... Refunds are ONLY available to those who purchase the optional refund insurance. NO REFUNDS – FOR ANY REASON – UNLESS YOU BUY INSURANCE

 

Camping:

Rustic Cabins: Rustic cabins are available, which include basic cot frame and access to communal bath house for water, etc. Bring your own sleeping bag and camping mat. Please email us to reserve.Parking Field: Tent or Van camping is allowed in the parking field. The parking field cannot accommodate travel trailers or Class A or Class C RVs.
