Our 2020 Out of the Darkness & Into the Bighorns course will start near the Leigh Creek Campground in Ten Sleep Canyon on Forest Service Road 504 or “the old highway.” The course starts pretty flat for the first .75 miles and then we will run up past the fish hatchery and over the bridge and up the old highway. It gets steep fast. The half marathon will go pretty much to the top of the road to turn around and run back down. The 5k will go up about .8 miles past the bridge and back down again.
After sending out a survey we discovered that it was almost an even split between longer endurance races or a 5k and 10k. It has always been our goal to show off different areas of our beautiful Bighorn Mountain Range and specifically the canyons. We may alternate between this course and the endurance courses each year, we just don’t know yet. But we thought doing a really challenging half marathon and a beautiful 5k would be a great option to appeal to more runners this year.
Out of the Darkness & Into the Bighorns is operated under a special use permit with the Bighorn National Forest and is an equal opportunity provider.
