Run 4 the Goo is a fun 5K run and walk hosted during the Arenzville, IL Burgoo, which is celebrating its 181st year of stirring that burgoo. This year, however, will be different. Recently the Burgoo Committee has decided to cancel the 2020 Burgoo Festival. There will be some events still on like the tractor pull, and the committee is also working on a drive-thru system for that World Famous Burgoo! AND we will still be holding our Run 4 the Goo 5K, only virtually.
We have our runners’ safety in mind as we look towards a Virtual Run 4 the Goo 2020. If you don’t know what that means, please look below. If you are a local Goo’er, we will still have the course marked for those who would like to run the course on their own time during race week. During registration, you will have a question that asks if you would like your shirt mailed to you or are able to pick up. We will have t-shirt pick up at the Burgoo Pavilion September 12th at 8-10 am (Normal Goo Time).
The money raised from this event will stay in the area, with a large portion being donated to the Prairieland United Way (PLUW) that serves several agencies in Cass, Northern Greene, Scott, and Morgan counties. PLUW funds programs that help young to old and provided some relief to people that have been affected by Covid-19. To learn more about this amazing group, please visit http://www.prairielandunitedway.org/. The other portion stays in Arenzville supporting many of the local services such as last year’s recipients: the Ken Bradbury Foundation, Arenzville Library and Tutoring Center, and the Arenzville Volunteer Fire Department.
Lastly, if you run with a group or would like to have the entire family join in the fun, contact us via email ([email protected]), and we will give you a special discount for groups of 4 or more! You just can’t beat that, it’s just too GOO’d of a deal!
