Run For Recovery Lexington

The Shepherd’s House will be hosting the 18th Annual Run for Recovery 5K and 1-mile fun walk in at Keeneland.Race Course in Lexington, KY. Shepherd’s House is a 12 to 18 month transitional residential treatment program for men 18 years of age and older. It is a structured program that promotes personal responsibility and accountability for those seeking sustained abstinence from mood and mind-altering substances.

Way back in 2000, Leroy Sanborn persuaded Shepherd's House to produce the inaugural Run For Recovery. Leroy, a runner since the late 90's, two time Boston Marathon finisher, and a graduate of Shepherd's House, continues to give back to the Shepherd's House and the community with his support of this race.  

 The race attracts both serious and not so serious runners and walkers. The race has something for everyone. Family friendly, pet friendly, a great course and a great cause!

Race Venue

Where will be the race be held?  At Keeneland Race Course at 4201 Versailles Rd, Lexington, KY 40510.  The Start/Finish line will be near Barn 3. What time does the race start?  The 5K race start time is 8:00 am. The 1 Mile Fun Walk will start shortly after the 5K. What time should I arrive?  Please arrive at least one hour before the race start time. Where will I park?  Parking is available in the main parking areas near Gate 2 at Keeneland.  You may enter the grounds through Gate 1 at Man-O-War and Versailles Rd until 7:45 am. Gate 2 will be open at all times on race day. How should I exit?  Gate 2 will be open at all times on race day, so please be cautious of runners on Old Clubhouse Lane if you leave before the 5K course is clear.  Gate 1 at Man-O-War and Versailles Rd will be closed between 7:45 am and until the section of the 5K course on Keeneland Blvd is clear at approximately 8:45 am.

 

Race Registration

When does online registration close?  Online registration will close on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at midnight. Can I register on race day?  Yes! Race day registration will be available for an increased fee over pre-registration fees. Cash and checks only will be accepted on race day. What do I get for my registration fee? Your registration fee includes your race bib with timing chip and a race t-shirt. Is there a benefitting charity?  Yes, all proceeds benefit Shepherd's House.  Can I get a refund of my registration fee? Sorry. registration fees go to the benefiting charity and are non-refundable.

 

Race Participation

When can I get my race t-shirt and race number?  On race day starting at 7:00 am at the race site. Can I view a course map?  Yes. Click here to view the course map. Is the course totally on hard surfaces?  Yes! The course is the paved roads at Keeneland. Is the course suitable for strollers?  Yes. Pushing a stroller on this course is possible. Please start in the back of the race pack. Can I walk the race?  Yes! Walkers are welcome. Can I bring my dog?  Yes! Dogs on a fixed length leash are welcome. No retractractable leashes please as they create a trip hazard.

 

Race Timing/Awards/Results

Will the race be timed?  Yes! The race will be timed by 3 Way Racing. Will awards be presented after the race?  Yes! Awards for the top 3 male and female finishers will be presented as soon as possible after the race. There will also  be awards for the top 3 male and female finishers in the following age based divisions: Masters (40-49), Grand Masters (50-59), Senior Grand Masters (60 & over), 10 & under, 11-14, 15-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 & over.
