About the event

The annual Run for the Galgos is a fun run/walk dedicated to raising funds for charities in Spain working to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome Spanish greyhounds (galgos) around the world. Why galgos? It is estimated that 60,000 galgos are abandoned or killed every year at the end of hunting season. This run is to help volunteers and rescuers on the ground working to save dogs and enact legislation to end the abusive practices galgos endure.

This year's event will take place along the beautiful San Francisco Bay Trail. Beginning at the Brisbane Marina, participants will run South on a flat, fast, yet scenic out-and-back route along the completely paved trail. Participants can choose to run the 10k (6.2 miles) or run/walk the 5k (3.1 miles).

Check in and race day registration begins at 8am. Both the 5 and 10K events will start together at 9am sharp. Please note that you must be able to finish your distance within the 2 hour time limit. We will have prizes for our top finishers in both distances, and commemorative ribbons for every participant!

Bring your family and friends and come join the fun to run for the galgos!
