Run For Their Lives 5K Walk/Run is a 5k dedicated to bringing awareness to the very real issue of human trafficking that affects not only the world, but our nation and community as well. There is an opportunity within each of our lives to confront the struggles of others and to do what we can to help those in need. All proceeds will be donated to Hope for Justice and Reclaim 13 (both are frontrunners in fighting human trafficking both globally and locally). Some alarming facts about human trafficking:

Over one million children have been exploited in the global commercial sex trade.

There are approximately 20 to 30 million slaves today.

Over 14,000 people are trafficked into the U.S. each year.

If you are unable to join us on race day for the 5k run/walk, there is an opportunity to still donate towards the cause either through the "Donate" tab to the right or in person at Second Place Church. There is also an option, as someone who will participate in the 5k, to set up a fundraising team or act as an individual fundraiser to raise donations as well. During registration there is a simple process to do so.

All those who register is entitled to an event T-shirt so for those willing to donate $30 or more is encouraged to still register even if they cannot participate.

Run For Their Lives 5K

06 Aug, 2016 (Sat) - 08:15
Running
5 km
Run For Their Lives 5K Walk/Run is a 5k dedicated to bringing awareness to the very real issue of human trafficking that affects not only the world, but our nation and community as well. Last year we had 322 runners and almost 60 volunteers that helped to make last year a huge success. Each year we are expecting it to be bigger and better and we are excited to make each and every one of you a part of this event.

The starting and finish lines will be located at Firemen's Park where there will be a registration table to pick up your complimentary event T-shirt and swag bag with each confirmed registration. Early packet pick-up will be available the day before the race from noon to 6:00PM at Second Place Church (address is below).

The 5k will start immediately following the Kid's Dash which will take place at 8:00AM. The route is 3.2 miles over a flat, road surface that includes a turn around point at mile 1.6.

At the conclusion of the race there will be refreshments and a snack for all of those who participated. We will also have live music again this year that will be located near the finish line for some extra musical motivation.

Each of the last two years we have had a HUGE cheering section so that when you reach the last little bit of the route, you see the finish line and a large group of supportive volunteers and spectators that give you an exceeding amount of motivation to cross that finish line.

Whether your motivation is to support this great cause, get back in shape, or try to beat your personal record, there is plenty to gain from being a part of this event. The relationships, as well, that you gain while attending this race with other runners or volunteers or spectators will prove to be amazing and even for some, life changing.

We look forward to seeing you on race day! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the race director.

Thank you,

Jordan
