We are excited to announce our first fundraising run, RUN ON THE WILDER SIDE, which will be held on Monday, September 2nd in Orinda’s Wilder housing development off Highway 24 near the Caldecott Tunnel:
3.1 mile (5K) run/walk starting at 8:00am
1.4 mile run/walk starting at 8:45am.
All ages are welcome! Entry fees are $25 for the 1.4 mile and $35 for the 3.1 mile (5K). Goodie bags, t-shirts, and prizes are included.
Your entry will support the OPR Foundation’s efforts to help fund critical renovations within the City’s Community Center Park.
Early packet pick-up is TBD – Saturday, 8/31 from 10-4 and Sunday, 9/1 from 12-5.
THERE WILL BE AWARDS FOR MALE AND FEMALE AGE GROUP WINNERS IN THE FOLLOWING AGE GROUPS: 10U, 11-17, 18-40, 41-64 AND 65+
*Note: for 2019 we are in the process of reconfiguring both runs so that we have more trail and less pavement/residential street running. Stay tuned!
1.4 mile course description: start near top of driveway of unfinished Art & Garden Center in Wilder. Cross Wilder Road and make a left onto Quarry Hill Rd. Take Quarry Hill up to Big Rock, where you will make a right and run straight to the end to loop around, heading back down Quarry Hill Rd. From Quarry Hill Rd, you will then make a right onto Big Leaf Rd, and then another right onto Wilder Road, which you will take down to the finish, heading straight down, then curving to the left to make a left at Wilder Fields, heading straight up to the finish.
5k course description (map is incomplete due to undeveloped maps online): start near top of driveway of unfinished Art & Garden Center in Wilder. Cross Wilder Road and head straight on Big Leaf Rd, winding right onto Rabble Rd, where you will run around the turnabout before heading straight to Wilder Road. Off of Rabble Rd you will make a left onto Wilder Road, where you will run down to Dairy Creek Rd, where you will make a right and run around the loop. Out of Dairy Creek Rd you will make a right, cross the bridge, and find a water station. Grab a cup of water, then cross the bridge to start heading back up Wilder Road. You will take Wilder Rd up and then all the way down, curving to the left to make a left at Wilder Fields, heading straight up to the finish.
