Running with the Devil 100M, 50M, 50K, Marathon, 1/2, 10K, and 5K

June 22, 2019

Back by popular demand, and reincarnated in 2016 at a new venue to bring you a new challenge! Pure Mojave Desert running at its finest! Come join us on this PAVED and scenic course which covers rolling terrain.

Commencing at an elevation of roughly 4500 feet, runners will experience high desert vegetation to include Joshua Trees, Pinion-Juniper, Mountain Rose, Sagebrush, and a relatively lush Toiyabe National Forest not commonly associated with Las Vegas. The road twists and turns thru the canyon; a true treasure of the Spring Mountains N.R.A. enjoying temperatures ~10 degrees cooler than the Las Vegas Valley.

Still an extreme heat race, expect daytime highs ~95- 100 degrees and overnight lows ~75. On course provisions will help keep you cool!

This running festival offers something for everyone! We offer the chance to run two events without the headache of travel in between! There are many options: Saturday Marathon in the morning + Saturday evening 1/2 Marathon; 1/2 Marathon BOTH morning and evening; Saturday 10K in the morning + Saturday evening 5K… you get the idea! OR of course you can just come and run one event. But if you have ever been “ultra curious” this is a great way to expand your boundaries!

**NOTE: There are 2 Half Marathons, two 10Ks, and two 5Ks at this race! One on Saturday morning and one on Saturday evening. Both are exactly the same course. This is to provide runners the opportunity to run back to back events. If you are running one only, it is preferred that you run on SATURDAY MORNING to keep the field most competitive. Or run both! Saturday evening’s awards for 1/2 Marathon, 10K, and 5K will go to the top 3 overall male and female finishers + 1 deep male and female overall grand masters (50+) per distance only. Age group awards will only be included on Saturday morning for these distances. Please pay attention to the different start times when you register!

*Start/ Finish Line: Lovell Canyon Road and Highway 160 Junction, just ~30 minutes drive from the Strip.

* This event is held on the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, under a special use permit.

Hi! I’m Joyce Forier; founder, owner, and race director of Calico Racing. Since inception in 2007 it has been my honor to showcase the exquisite natural side of Las Vegas. With 8- 10 races annually Calico Racing offers unique running events throughout the valley that work in harmony with nature, challenge you in creative ways, and offer a personal touch not possible in mass production races. Integrity, innovation, attention to detail, community, and environmental stewardship are the driving forces behind Calico Racing. A resident of Southern Nevada since 2001, I am a true desert rat, and am most at home among the canyons. My inspiration and creativity thrive when I am out on a run. In fact, Calico Racing was conceptualized on a run at Red Rock Canyon, whose trail-heads “Calico Hills” dictated the namesake and logo colors for Calico Racing. A veteran of 125+ marathon or longer races myself, I have raced events of every type in all 50 US States and on 5 continents: Small and intimate, mega city, 250K self supported stage race, world-class international destination races, 100 milers, and Ironmans. It is through a participant’s eyes that I design Calico Racing’s courses and the overall race experience. Welcoming of athletes of all distances and abilities, I invite you to join us at a Calico Racing event, and let me share with you my Las Vegas, Nevada. Born out of serenity, inspired by nature ~ Events by a runner, for runners.
