Sandhill Shuffle 5k Run/Walk

Come out and be a part of this inaugural event for the Town of Wheatfield's Parks & Activities Committee to raise funds for our new playground equipment at Centennial Park and future town sponsored community activities!!

This 5k run/walk event will start and end at Centennial Park, in the heart of the Town of Wheatfield, across from our own Heather's Diner and Stower's & Son Meat & Grocer!   Enjoy 3.1 miles weaving through our small town streets, and hopefully catch a glimpse of the migrating Sandhill Cranes in the surrounding fields! 
Why the Sandhill Shuffle? Wheatfield is proud of our history a Kankakee Marsh town and the wildlife that call it home.  Our Sandhill Crane Festival each September pays homage to these beautiful birds that frequent the area during their yearly migration.  Sandhill Cranes are known for their courtship rituals which include dancing, calling, and even stick tossing - and now we are celebrating this unique creature with our very own Sandhill Shuffle!

Online registration open now through October 27th at 10am.  
Race Day packet pickup will begin at 6:45am and race day registration from 6:45 to 7:30am 

The race will start promptly at 8:00am on October 28th, 2023, with awards at approximately 9:15am when all runners and walkers have finished.  

Awards presented at the end of the race will be presented to: 

Overall Female and Male
Overall Female and Male Masters

Top 3  finishers in each Age division, Male and Female:
 10 and under, 11 - 12, 13-14, 15-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+, and in each Athena (>170 lbs), Clydesdale (>210 lbs), and Non-Binary.
We will also have an All Abilities category!! This will be for all ages and include any person with a developmental or physical disability and will be wheelchair/adaptive mobility equipment friendly. 

Registration Fees:

Adults (15 and up)  - $25

Youth (14 and under) - $15

There will be no price increase for Race Day, but T-shirts will only be guaranteed to runners/walkers registered by October 13th.  

All registrations are final - there are no refunds.
